Opto-Update and my Kid Wants to be Stevie Wonder

Littlest had her visit with the Ophthalmologist today. Complete eye dilation and all- super fantastic for a spunky three year old let me tell you. Best part of the day was Littlest's Stevie Wonder impersonation:

We took a trip to McCrappies for ice cream while we waited the 45 minutes it took for her eyes to completely dilate. People gave me funny looks. And stared. A LOT. It made me want to punch them in the eye. I mean, just look at the jerks in the back ground of this pic. What are they doing? Staring. At my teeny tiny Littlest, who is maybe neither teeny nor tiny; but thats not the point. STARING. AT.A.BABY. meanies.

After a few trips down the slide I convinced her that it would be best to get our butts back to the Dr. so we could finish up the madness and see if she needed to get some glasses. I did NOT want her to have glasses. Neither did she. But she was a champ and crawled up in that big ol' chair surrounded by crazy looking contraptions. She didn't cry. She didn't whine. All I could think was "Holy Crap, she is so SMALL!"

Minutes later we were done. It was all over, she stocked up on stickers and walked her happy behind out the door. Glasses Free (hopefully for life). Awesome.

  2. She is my new hero. I went to the eye doctor last week and TOTALLY freaked the fuck OUT. I cancelled my first appt - then rescheduled - then had a panic attack on the bus on the way. Then I DID start crying and almost fainted when they came at me with that big Flight of the Navigator thing from Hell!

And now I have glasses that looked like Buddy Holly buttfucked an Owl and barfed up the spawn of Madame Trelawney.

    So kudos to Littlest!!!

  3. Well, that's great! (She looks so adorable in those glasses) (how the heck did you get her to keep them on??) I'm glad that you won't have to hassle with glasses for awhile.

  4. Yay! No glasses! I'm supposed to wear bifocals when I read and work on my puter and do detail work with the carving and stuff I do but I lost my glasses 4 years ago....

  5. Wow, she behaved better at her eye exam than I do. Maybe that's because nobody ever bribed me with McCrappies.

  7. What is with those McMeanies? She was such a trooper! I'm glad she didn't need glasses yet. I think I got away with it until 4th grade. :(

  9. I didn't want glasses when I was young either. But now I have them. And I like them.

    Glasses rule.

And people are mean. They should all be killed. Or maybe that's too harsh. Maybe just a fine.

  10. This reminds me of the time my dad punished my sister and I because he thought we were making fun of some girl in McDonald's who was wearing an eye patch. We weren't. We hadn't even noticed her. We were just laughing at some silly kid thing. Dad having had to wear an eye patch as a kid was sensitive to these things and yelled at us the whole way home. We weren't allowed to get out of the car until we admitted what we had done and apologized. I refused to lie and so stayed in the car for like two hours. My sister (the loser!) lied and said we had been making fun of the girl and apologized just so she could get out of the car.

So, I maybe there is some logical explanation for the creepy guys. Like they were checking out the hot mom. Probably, though, they are just creeps.
